SOL — Secure OffLine

SOL stands for Secure OffLine, meaning the files you make can only be viewed by the people who are supposed to, and they don't need to be on the Internet to do it.

Most secure ways of storing information these days, require you to be connected to the Internet or use some special software that not everyone can use.

If you send one of your friends a message you would rather keep secret, it's usually not as secret as you would like. If it is kept on the Internet somewhere, someone can definitely get hold of it. If you keep it on your computer, and it is stolen or someone else uses it, they can get to it too.

We decided to find a way of making secret messages that are truly secret, with passwords that you set. They will work regardless of whether you are on the Internet or not, on any computer that has a reasonably recent web browser.

A SOL file is a single file, that you can easily share with people however you like, safe in the knowledge that only those that know the passwords will be able to read them.
